music

#97 Patrick Watson / Part 1 - A Take Away Show from La Blogotheque on Vimeo.

from one of my favouritist interweb sites, la blogotheque.

will have more oddities in watercoloured splendour up soon. once i find a fresh pair of hands from kindred arms to help with some laborious scanning. and i also may have some new paintings up soon. if i manage to put down 'the amber spyglass'. its stolen my days. music of the minute centres around 80's clad slightly rockin' ladies; ida maria, florence and the machine, though my opinion of all modern music is slightly marred after purchasing a three cd collection of edith piaf. legend.

in the spirit of the french musical legends, here's something i consider one of the most amazing examples of artistic genius and beauty. this clip gives me shivers everytime i watch; jacques brel

from out there

a certain mr colin, of the dublin audio/visual/anthropomorphic experience, Green Lights, recently left this clouded land for the neon glow of tokyo. no longer does he astound us with his musical whimsy, disturb us with his unpredictable on-stage convulsing. now he exposes the potential humour and wonder of divergent cultural oddities in his own little "lost in translation";
only in tokyo

oh, and there's origami...

also, was listening to this american life, a
radio and online talkshow, and i feel the need to pass on a particularly funny and poignant story told by comedian mike birbiglia. his piece starts at 10.00, but the whole show's pretty interesting (joss whedon's musical number is a surprise);
returning to the scene of the crime

and from a different world entirely; fighting fish

peace.

butterflies and bees

i've been going over older pics and redoifying them. above is one such image, which for a long while i liked but was unsure what to do with. turns out it just need a home. also getting a bit crafty with my art. wood could be my favourite thing these days. nothing like painting or varnishing an old bit of wood.

in other news, my vegetable garden, with help from a knowledgable uncle, is doing splendidly. i'm giving away rocket plants to any visitors that pass, the lettuce is of an edible size, the peas, tomatos and courgette have sprouted and i just planted some potatoes the other day. it's a lovely feeling growing things.

i'm setting up an etsy account; mooliki.etsy.com
nothing there yet, i have to sort out payment details before i can start building a shop. then i have to figure out what to put in it. but the banner is nice, yes?

and here's a site from a wonderful artist and friend; http://sarabaume.wordpress.com/

i had other links to pass on, but i can't remember...plus i've been neglecting blogworld with crampy arm disease, so i'm not sure if anyone still visits here.

anywho, peaceful thoughts everyone.
