the umbrella tree

one of my favourite trees i've ever come across (yes, i am that uncool...) is tucked away behind st macartan's cathedral in monaghan. i went up there today to sketch it.

i think i'll take a photo next time...it's pretty amazing. limbs twisted in every direction as though its never quite sure what way its growing.

this one's still causing me trouble. can't get the colours right. nearly there though;

i didn't realise jonsi of sigur ros had a solo project going;

i drew this one a month or two ago but i don't think i posted it up anywhere...

i took a gigabyte of photos of birds while waiting for the kettle to boil at lunchtime. i really need an external harddrive...

rest at worlds end

here's two new drawings. working on a few coloured one's as well.

slightly obsessed with kingfisher's lately, after a trip to the museum triggered some vague, and as of yet unidentifiable, childhood recollection.

some new photos up on flickr;

been listening to Humcrush's Rest At World's End (listen to "stream"). very insane. a must listen for anyone interested in live experimental electronica or obscenely complex percussion. and if you like that, keep an ear out for the slightly more chilled Rainfear. there's only a snippet on the site, but i got to listen to a bit of the album that's being mixed and sounds pretty sweet.

some kind soul has nominated Invert This Space for the Irish Blog Awards. only initial raw nominee lists up, but still, thanks to the organisers and sponsors. look forward to checking out some of the other nominations.

also, i'm on the look out for a space to exhibit (preferably in dublin) and most welcoming of suggestions.

in motion...

haven't updated site in a while. family things and quiet time. but been drawing away. here's a few, i'll scan properly later. found a new paper from daintree, a carbon neutral recycled paper. they are awfully thoughtful in there.

i did laugh quite heartily when i drew this one....but that's probably just my sense of humour;

here's progress of a large painting i've been tackling.

friday morning in Iveagh gardens...

Jaw cooper

i was looking through illustrator harmony gong's flickr page (her site's here) and came across J.A.W. Cooper;

loving her blog, lots of progress photos, particularly this post; link. i like learning.

each point connected to the other...

as expected, "woodenatomy" is slowly turning into "emilatomy". she finds her way everywhere...

quite liking Talkless at the mo. if you're into electronica.

and this, i think is worth sharing;
