Cygnet

It's been a while since I've done a straight ink drawing from the Laboured Error series. Although most of my drawings are done with little planning, these are especially.... chaotic. But they are one of my favourite types of drawings. Just letting the pen go wherever it's going and ignoring any directive thought. But with lots of repetitive detail to get lost in. It sort of works as a meditation, and it's something I always fall back on when I'm not quite happy with where work is going. Emily found her way into this one. As, I believe, did this fellow;

A Lack Of Colour

More pen drawings. I'm rather fond of this pair. I've a few others like this, pen and indian ink on Daintree's recycled and carbon neutral 220gsm A4 paper.

Off to the Market tomorrow. Call in, those in the city.

i drew this one a month or two ago but i don't think i posted it up anywhere...

i took a gigabyte of photos of birds while waiting for the kettle to boil at lunchtime. i really need an external harddrive...

rest at worlds end

here's two new drawings. working on a few coloured one's as well.

slightly obsessed with kingfisher's lately, after a trip to the museum triggered some vague, and as of yet unidentifiable, childhood recollection.

some new photos up on flickr;

been listening to Humcrush's Rest At World's End (listen to "stream"). very insane. a must listen for anyone interested in live experimental electronica or obscenely complex percussion. and if you like that, keep an ear out for the slightly more chilled Rainfear. there's only a snippet on the site, but i got to listen to a bit of the album that's being mixed and sounds pretty sweet.

some kind soul has nominated Invert This Space for the Irish Blog Awards. only initial raw nominee lists up, but still, thanks to the organisers and sponsors. look forward to checking out some of the other nominations.

also, i'm on the look out for a space to exhibit (preferably in dublin) and most welcoming of suggestions.

each point connected to the other...

as expected, "woodenatomy" is slowly turning into "emilatomy". she finds her way everywhere...

quite liking Talkless at the mo. if you're into electronica.

and this, i think is worth sharing;

more ink

have 20ish of these drawings so far (which are getting progressively unwood-like and unreferenced).

i might have to start thinking about what to do with them. always the most uncomfortable part of the process. surely it's enough they exist. anyway, newbies...

"nothing breeds exploitation like the death of the gifted"

i'm edging towards the large blank canvas in my other room. its been there for about 4 months, looking very oppressive after a winter of A5.

woodenatomy II

scanner isn't picking up much detail. i had planned on sharing some links...but my arms are too b******d, so i'm going to drink beer and read karen armstrong instead.

woodenatomy

following friendly guidance, i drew some things lying around my desk last night. at least, it started out that way. unreality has a habit of taking over...

todays musings

this one i'm calling "birth of the ninth" and i've this random thought accompanying it that lies somewhere between the return of the christian messiah and lord of the rings.

nothing lies 'neath hospital bed but monsters

this i just think is nice. it is nice, right?
