new sketches and old paintings

new photos on flickr, drawings and photos;

spent some of the last two days recording some guitar parts for a friends album (the band in question are remaining pretty quiet on the subject for now). will be a while before i have something to put up here from it, but was really pleased with how it went. many thanks to the lads and to the very patient and understanding shane of K9 studios. unfortunately i've no photos, and this is what happens when i try to draw real people with beards and clothes.

took some new photos of a painting i did a year ago, which i plan to put on etsy, along with a few other older portrait style paintings. any interest, let me know.

tuesday's birds

i drew this one a month or two ago but i don't think i posted it up anywhere...

i took a gigabyte of photos of birds while waiting for the kettle to boil at lunchtime. i really need an external harddrive...

good things

I was pleasantly surprised to be informed i had been very kindly featured on Bree Walk's blog, Citrus Hearts. its a really nice site, lots of brilliant photos, and particularly like Christopher Bibby's and Jenny's paintings.

bree's own lovely photos can also be found on her Etsy page.

speaking of etsy, i had my first etsy sale this weekend! very exciting.

also must mention bibliOdyssey. there aren't enough hours in the day to go through its amazing collection of illustrations from old history and science books and magazines, with loads of info and background on the sources. there's such a wonderful genuine quality to the images. check it out.

big art is good

so here's some more images from the ongoing fairy tale in my mind. thom's beginning to look out of place though. out of place... i'm not sure what of it is in place.

also this week i completed the much needed tidying and reorganising of my present studio, which involved fitting all this (and more);

...into this;

it was very satisfying. on a not so pleasant note, all my pea plants are dead. they did give a tremendous crop before perishing, so its not all bad.
