Offset Party, Twisted Pepper

i might rant a little about Offset tomorrow, but its late and i've been sleeping on a couch for three days, so for now here's some pics from the after show party in Twisted Pepper on Saturday night. Tara McPherson was djing and a bunch of the Offset illustrators drawing on posters and a big sheet of perspex/glass. awesome show. photos courtesy of self-sibling caroline of DF.

knockanstock and kyp malone's lovely beard

i've been asked to do another live art show at this years knockanstock. this is a great little independent festival on its 3rd year running. i played the first year with the sensors and it was brilliant fun, very intimate friendly crowd and plenty of great bands, eclectic range but tending towards the foot-stomping, free-spirited side of the fence. takes place at blessington lake in wicklow, lovely scenic spot. its on the 25th to 27th of this month, check the link above for more info.

today's activites revolved around making a miniature wire and newspaper body for tv on radio's kyp malone's disembodied head. i also made him a little room where he can look at my drawings. tomorrow i think i shall accomodate thom yorke's head. when i've thought of a legitimate reason of why i might possibly be doing this i'll let you know...

lastly, hannah breslin. her work gives me goosebumps. try catch an exhibition of hers. she is beautifully honest and unflinching in her work. though not a style i'd usually be into, i've long been a fan of her stuff. watch 'pink room'.

just add water...

more pictures of the SSTN pic, and a few sketches i did for the day. personally i much prefer the sketches. will sort out the large painting soon. her head is squished...for pics of the whole day, check out only born design, aka the delectable melissa conlon, graphic designer and regular contributor to Second Square To None.

sketches and the, so-far finished, piece;

on a semi-related note, and for those who like all things hand-made and etsy-esque, here are some links to the work of the industrious canadian artist and photographer, lindsey kemp, her handmade jewellery, notebooks and knitwear and her photography.

lastly, here's another little oddity for my collection;

not really quite sure what to say about this...

musically, these days, its all mozart, the magic flute. awesome. and some wilco.

second square 2 none, twisted pepper

first pics back from second square to none, courtesy of dran quinn. should have more soon of the actual painting. was a good day all round, loved the music and visuals , and was great set up (though the bowel-turningly loud speakers were right beside my brain leaving me slightly trembly). the whole thing went well.

the finished piece isn't quite....finished. wasn't totally satisfied with it, so will probably do a bit more work on it.

big thanks to chris and melissa and the second square to none crew. you're awesome.

Second Square to None

have been asked by the venerable Euphiophone to take part in the next Second Square to None, on Sunday 28th in Twisted Pepper in Dublin. I've been meaning to make it to one of these events for ages, so i'm pretty sure i'll not miss this one.

gonna be a few of us doing live art type stuffs (yes, drawing while other people are in the room...but bigger) and of course there shall be music and other such wonderous funliness, and its free, so please do pop in. i'll also bring some little things to flog on the day, so if you're interested in purchasing anything, let me know.
